When Lei Jun announced the price of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra at 529,900 RMB, most people probably reacted with a mix of shock and disbelief.
No one expected the long-dormant tradition of "overnight negotiations with executives" to make such a dramatic comeback.
This is an exceptionally strategic price point. The SU7 Ultra directly enters the territory of the “56E” segment, while also delivering Taycan Turbo-level performance and a brand influence comparable to Tesla—making its blockbuster status inevitable.
Generous Perks & Customization Options
Xiaomi continues its “free upgrade” strategy from the standard SU7. Customers who place an order before the end of March will receive 15 carbon fiber components and a carbon fiber fixed rear wing at no extra cost. If they opt out of the carbon fiber wing, the electric rear spoiler comes as standard. Additionally, customers can choose paint and interior colors for free, along with classic racing stripes, a 5-year basic maintenance package, and full Xiaomi HAD end-to-end intelligent driving features—a total value of 90,000 RMB.
For enthusiasts looking for an even bolder aesthetic, there's a 42,000 RMB option to replace the front trunk with a carbon fiber dual-channel front hood.
For hardcore track users, the 100,000 RMB "Racing Package" includes:
- Bilstein coilover dampers
- Pirelli P0 TROFEO RS semi-slick tires
- 21-inch forged wheels
- ENDLESS brake discs
- Carbon fiber roof
With these options, it’s hard not to be intrigued.
Record-Breaking Sales
Xiaomi’s official sales report revealed a frenzy of demand:
- 6,900 pre-orders in the first 10 minutes
- Over 10,000 within two hours
Xiaomi’s earlier projection of selling just 10,000 units per year now seems overly conservative.
Given the SU7 Ultra’s product strength, 3,600+ pre-sale orders, and the positive sentiment reflected in Xiaomi’s Hong Kong stock price, it’s clear that the market wouldn’t have flinched even if the price had been set above 800,000 RMB.
But even after repeated verification, 529,900 RMB still feels like a game-changer.
Performance That Redefines the Segment
Beyond its price, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra boasts the raw power to shake up the performance car market. It features the same super three-motor system as the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype, consisting of two V8s motors (27,200 rpm) and one V6s motor. This setup enables torque vectoring, allowing independent dynamic torque distribution at 500 times per second, significantly enhancing handling and stability.
The track-focused high-power battery pack from CATL delivers a maximum discharge rate of 16C and a peak power output of 1,330 kW. Even at 20% battery level, it still maintains an impressive 800 kW discharge power. With a 5.2C maximum charging rate, charging from 10% to 80% takes just 11 minutes. For added safety, the battery pack even features a bulletproof coating.
Jaw-Dropping Specs
- Max horsepower: 1,548 PS
- 0-100 km/h acceleration: 1.98 seconds
- Top speed: 350 km/h
Braking performance is just as impressive, featuring carbon-ceramic brake discs, six-piston Akebono calipers, and custom Pirelli P ZERO Gen 5 tires. The 100-0 km/h braking distance is just 30.8 meters, with no degradation even after ten consecutive 180-0 km/h braking tests.
Track Records & Nürburgring Challenge
Leading up to its launch, the SU7 Ultra has set lap records across China’s top racetracks, with Xiaomi confirming that the mass production model will take on the Nürburgring Nordschleife later this year:
- Shanghai International Circuit: 2'09"944 (fastest production car)
- Chengdu Tianfu: 1'26"741 (fastest four-door production car)
- Zhuzhou International Circuit: 1'41"806 (fastest four-door production car)
- Zhuhai International Circuit: 1'37"758 (fastest four-door production car)
Aero-Optimized Design
The SU7 Ultra's exterior upgrades are all performance-oriented. The front features a large front splitter and air dams, paired with U-shaped aero blades to enhance front-end downforce. The enlarged grille openings increase cooling efficiency by 10%.
At the rear, an active rear diffuser and a fixed carbon fiber wing contribute to a maximum downforce of 285 kg.
Extensive Use of Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber, a staple in supercars, is used extensively in the SU7 Ultra. Highlights include:
- 1.7m² carbon fiber roof
- Carbon fiber seatbacks, dashboard trim, and door sills
- 21 individual carbon fiber components across the vehicle
And for an extra touch of exclusivity? A 24K gold carbon fiber badge.
The Ultimate Daily Driver
Despite its track credentials, Xiaomi has also prioritized everyday usability. The SU7 Ultra features the Xiaomi HAD smart driving system powered by end-to-end AI, with a 3 million RMB insurance plan launching in April.
Comfort features include:
- Ventilated & massaging front seats
- Graphene heating for both rows
- Enhanced active side bolsters for better body support during aggressive driving
Other enhancements:
- Electric front trunk with voice and app controls
- Dual 50W wireless phone charging
- Auto-dimming side mirrors & BSD blind spot monitoring
- Adjustable three-level vanity mirror lighting
- New Pearl White color aimed at female customers
The Xiaomi Formula: Disrupt & Dominate
The SU7 Ultra is a perfect example of Xiaomi’s product philosophy: technology-driven, value-packed, and undeniably cool. The only real question is delivery timelines, considering that Xiaomi has 248,000 locked-in orders for the standard SU7 but has only managed 135,000 deliveries in the past nine months.
Regardless of production constraints, one thing is certain:
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is poised to disrupt the performance car landscape and establish itself as a future classic with industry-leading resale value.
This is, simply put, the most powerful four-door production car on the planet.
